FINGER PAINT! The TLT loves to get messy and I love to let her. Finger paint is great for messy fun but I wanted something with natural ingredients that would be safe if she put it in her mouth but, unlike the peanut butter play dough, she won't want to put in her mouth. A lot of recipes call for sugar, but there is a recipe floating around the internet that was so simple I had to try it. Ready?
1 part flour
2 parts water
food coloring
Yup. That's it. You mix the flour and water and cook over low heat until it thickens. I followed the version on Babycenter.com, here. I used 2 cups flour to 4 cups water. It made a lot of paint. I divided it up into small plastic containers before adding color. Then all I had to do was pop the lids on and refrigerate the left overs.

The TLT had a lot of fun. She made 5 beautiful paintings. I took off her clothes and put her in a diaper and an old tank top of mine. She got paint on her face and hair, but while she tasted it, she didn't like it enough to eat much of it.
When she was finished painting about 4/5 of the paint was left. I would probably cut the recipe in half next time and still have enough for two or three days.
In the end. This activity was a success. The TLT was looking at the pictures I took of her and is now asking for "mo pent" (more paint). I better go get her set up. I love being a mommy!
